The year was 1986, I was 6. My parents decide to buy me and my sister a Nintendo for rainy days. The rain soon stopped and the sun came out, but I continued to play. At the time I was reliant on what games I got for Christmas, not knowing much better. But by 1991, I was making decisions myself. I wanted the Super Nintendo, and I convinced my mom to get it for me. The next 5 years were the best in my gaming life. The Super Nintendo was everything. I would frequently get into arguments about how the Super Nintendo was better. Even though sales told a slightly different story, technically the SNES was far superior in every way. Many of my favorite games were on the Super Nintendo. Super Mario Kart, Zelda 3 (Still better than Ocrina of Time), Uniracers. Then came Christmas 1994. I had been waiting for months for Donkey Kong Country. That Christmas day, I was changed. From the first time I say Cranky Kong tapping his foot in the opening screen, I was hooked. I stayed up all night playing. It is a night I will never forget. The second most memorable experience is when I went up to Toys R Us and first saw a Mario 64 demo. I curiously walked over and picked up the big controller. I will never forget when I first made Mario move and jump. Since then, there have been numerous good games. I was working now, and bought loads of games. None of them will stick in my mind like the others though.
Today, much of my free time is spent with my Dance Dance Revolution addiction. I have gone through so many cheap paper pads, I finally bought a metal one. Even though I keep buying new games, DDR is what I play most. It is basic, fun, and active.
